Talking Techies

By Anita Jaynes on 27 June, 2022

Ahead of the return of the Swindon & Wiltshire Techies in the autumn, we’ve been chatting to some of the region’s best and brightest firms to find out more about them.

From which superhero would your business be, to which tech could you live without, we’ve posed some questions to help us get to know our friendly neighbourhood tech businesses and the people behind them.

Simon Crisp is Managing Director of Green Machine Computers, winner of the 2021 Flying the Flag for Swindon and Wiltshire Tech Award.

He shares his answers below.

NAME: Simon Crisp

COMPANY: Green Machine Computers

SECTOR: IT

CAN YOU SUM UP WHAT YOUR COMPANY DOES IN NO MORE THAN 10 WORDS?

Recycling old tech and reducing customers carbon footprint.

LOOKING AHEAD OVER THE NEXT DECADE, WHAT TECH DEVELOPMENTS EXCITE YOU AND WHY?

The Metaverse and NFT Gaming, I have been looking into this for over a year and I’m fascinated with it.

WHAT TECH COULD YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT?

I love my Xbox and love playing games with my kids.

WHAT TECH COULD YOU LIVE WITHOUT?

My phone and computer at work… so I can have a quieter day.

TELL US SOMETHING WE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS

We offer IT support contracts and do IT support for companies along the M4 corridor.

IF YOUR COMPANY WAS A SUPERHERO, WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE?

Well for the 80s cartoon fans it would have to be Captain Planet… Why? Because his intro song was “Captain Planet, he is our hero, he is going to take pollution down to zero..” Very cheesy but a message we agree with and try to help achieve.

CAN YOU SHARE A QUOTE WHICH MEANS SOMETHING TO YOU?

Impossible isn’t something that can’t be done, it’s just something that has not been done before!
