Join The Business Exchange and be inspired at Inner Flame’s annual celebration

By Anita Jaynes on 27 July, 2022

The Business Exchange is delighted to be supporting local youth charity Inner Flame with the organisation of its annual Young Champions evening.

Founded by David Wreathall in 2008, Inner Flame inspires and empowers young people. It offers free courses to develop confidence, self-worth, life-skills, and employability for young people (aged 16-25) in Swindon and North/West Wiltshire.

The Young Champions evening celebrates participants on these, including The Prince’s Trust Team Programme.

Anita Jaynes, Founder of The Business Exchange, said, “It’s such a feel-good event seeing the young people pick up their awards and hear about the challenges they’ve overcome – often turning around their lives, finding confidence, and in many circumstances finding new jobs or career paths to pursue. I’ve attended these events since the inception of The Business Exchange and it’s always one of the highlights of my year.

“This year’s event will be held on Friday 25th November at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in Swindon, and we would love to see you there. We want to raise awareness of the charity as well as inspire you and your organisations to get involved. Employers can offer work experience, volunteer on a CV / Interview Day, or even become a trustee.”

David Wreathall, Founder of Inner Flame, said, “This year is extra special as we’re celebrating ten years of working with The Prince’s Trust. On the night we will be hearing stories from those who’ve completed the programme over the years and how our work has transformed lives.”

Proceeds from the Young Champions evening will help to fund the continuation of Inner Flame’s anxiety programme, ‘Manage Anxiety: Your Way’. An area of its work which has seen a real increase in demand since the start of the pandemic. Elizabeth Postgate, General Manager at Inner Flame, said, “Anxiety is one of the most common mental health issues for young people, and a problem that we see frequently in the young people that we work with. This programme helps young people take control of their own mental health, offering a toolkit of methods that work.”

For the chance to quadruple its fundraising efforts, Inner Flame is taking part in the 2022 Big Give Christmas Challenge. The first challenge is to achieve £5k in pledges by 1st September (paid in December) to turn these into up to £20,000.

Tickets for the Young Champions evening are priced from £55 per head and include a three-course meal, live entertainment, a raffle and auction. It’s perfect timing to pick up unique Christmas presents and get organised ahead of the festive period.
