Wiltshire firm walks to China to raise funds for charity

The team at Wiltshire learning and development agency RTS Group have been getting sweaty to raise money for charity as part of May’s National Walking Month – and plan to reach China!

Staff and associates at the Notton-based business have been running, walking, rowing, cycling and swimming, then totting up the distance they travel, in a bid to get as far – virtually, at least – as their office in Beijing. Which is some achievement, as it’s 5,100 miles, as the crow flies!

Those taking part donated a £5 entry fee, all of which will go to RTS Group’s chosen charities of the year. These are Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, and Wiltshire Mind, which runs groups and offers counselling for people with mental health issues. They also held a dress up day to raise some extra funds.

At the same time the company, which provides learning and development to the automotive industry, has run a number of training sessions with Wiltshire Mind on mental health awareness, stress and anxiety as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Emma Tozer, HR Advisor with RTS Group, said: “We are really pleased with how everybody has thrown themselves into the Walk to China. It’s great to raise funds in this way for two such excellent charities, and is really helping to engender our team spirit – plus we are all getting quite competitive about who will travel the furthest!”
