Take A Day Away from the stresses of modern life

A Wiltshire-based Coach and self-improvement expert is on a mission to reconnect his clients with their authentic selves.

Following a corporate career which included running a multimillion dollar engineering business in Australia, in 2016 Jim Hughes decided to re-evaluate his life and design his work around his natural gifts.

He embarked on a journey of self-discovery to reassess what was important to him in life, and to consider how he could make positive changes towards a more fulfilling existence.

For the past eight years, Jim has been imparting the knowledge gained from his journey to others. He believes that in an increasingly ‘plugged-in’ world, we could all benefit from allocating time to consider and enjoy the elements of life that truly matter.

He said, “The average adult spends 6.5 hours a day looking at a screen. This figure is undoubtedly higher if you’re a knowledge worker and even more so if you run a business.

“That adds up to 44% of our waking hours spent staring at brightly lit pixels and not trees, fields, animals, skies or hedgerows. And when we do go out for a walk, we’re often accompanied by a podcast or audiobook.

“We’re consuming knowledge at an unbelievable rate but we’re not taking the time to absorb it. We expend so much energy running up that hill we have no time left to either enjoy the view or check that we’re even on the right hill in the first place! At one end of the scale this causes stress, tension and frustration. Unabated it leads to overwhelm and burnout.”

Jim’s business, Untamed, aims to help businesses and individuals to redress this balance through various initiatives, one being his A Day Away series held near Bradford on Avon.

A Day Away is a series of four, single day events, spread over a year, in the tranquil Wiltshire countryside. It aims to allow attendees to spend time unplugged, in nature, having meaningful conversations where they can slow down and reconnect with themselves and others. It’s a great way to expand your network whilst taking an important break from the relentless pace of modern life.

Jim added, “The A Day Away Series will help people to put their screens away, get into nature, slow down and ask the important questions they often don’t make time for, all in the company of like-minded peers.”

The next event in the series takes place on Thursday 13th June. For more information including pricing and how to book, visit www.becomeuntamed.com/a-day-away-series
