Return to Space Station Pudsey which took place on Friday 17th November at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Swindon has raised nearly £3,000 for BBC Children in Need.

The intergalactic fundraising extravaganza attracted sci-fi fans of all ages from far and wide.

Visitors on the day enjoyed meeting Daleks, Cybermen, Wookies, Imperial Guards and villains Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, Palpatine and Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Tardis and static displays from Doctor Who filled the heart area of the Swindon Designer Outlet and throughout the day shoppers were entertained by Daleks chasing their toes, the opportunity to step inside (and win) a Tardis, face painting, live entertainment and more.

The event was organised by a team of volunteers who recruited help from Project Dalek, Mk Garrison and  the Gloucestershire Troopers.

This was the third Space Station Pudsey event held in Swindon, with the first being held at BT North Star House in 1996 followed by the second intergalactic fundraiser at the Designer Outlet in 2003.

Organiser of the event, David Latham, said, “An amazing day of fundraising saw BBC Radio Wiltshire and BBC Points West reporting live and chatting to villains from Doctor Who and Star Wars, as well as a delegation from Star Trek’s Star Fleet Command. Local businessman Luke Kaye even brought a life sized replica of a giant lizard called a Tauntaun from The Empire Strikes Back. We were delighted Pudsey Bear beamed up to join the fun. Thanks to the generosity of volunteers and shoppers we were able to raise nearly £3,000 for the Appeal”.

The occasion saw the return of two Daleks which were made for  Space Station Pudsey events 27 years ago and stolen in 2003. They were located in  December 2021 and returned to their builder John Chapman the following year. Read the full story here.
