Local end of life care provider Prospect Hospice has been named by McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon as their official charity for 2022.
Proceeds from a variety of activities taking place at the Centre throughout the year, such as the Recycle Your Fashion initiative, will be donated to the partnership. The much-needed funds raised will support the incredible work of the Prospect Hospice.
As a local independent charity offering specialist end of life care, Prospect Hospice depend almost entirely on funds from the public, with donations making up almost three quarters of their income. Each day it costs over £17k to run their much-needed services – with such high costs needed to keep the palliative care unit up and running, the hospice simply would not exist without the generous support of the local community.
Guests of McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon can help support this fantastic cause by bringing in any used and unwanted clothes to the centre, as part of the Recycle Your Fashion campaign. These clothes will be upcycled for their textile, or sold off for reuse if in good condition, with all money collected being donated to Prospect Hospice. In return, visitors will be awarded a 10 per cent voucher card for each bag of donated clothes, while also knowing they are actively contributing to keeping the much-needed services of Prospect Hospice free of charge to those who truly need them.
In addition to the textile recycling scheme, visitors will be able to contribute to the cause throughout the year by shopping at the pop-up Retail Boutique which starts at Easter. Guests will also be able to visit the hospice’s community memorial installation displayed at the centre later in 2022.
Tina Cumpstey, Centre Manager at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon, said, “We are delighted to announce Prospect Hospice as our charity partner for 2022. As the local community has always been at the very heart of everything we do, we are profoundly moved by the care Prospect Hospice provides”
Sheryl Crouch, Head of Fundraising at Prospect Hospice, added, “After the last 2 years of depleted income due to the pandemic, this is wonderful news for the hospice, we are deeply appreciative of the incredible support we will be receiving as McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon’s charity partner. Prospect Hospice deliver with no charge to patients and their families, care, comfort and confidence, around the clock, every day of the year, to a community of 300,000 people across Swindon, Marlborough and north east Wiltshire. The services costs £7.5million to deliver and Prospect Hospice receives only 28% in funding, making partnerships like this crucial. Thank you so much to all the team – we wouldn’t be able to do this without the amazing support of our wonderful community.”
