Dorothy House is appealing to its supporters across Wiltshire as it embarks on a 36-hour, half-a-million-pound fundraising challenge.
The charity’s Always Here Appeal begins at 10am today (Sunday 6th November) and ends tomorrow, Monday 7th November at 10pm.
The drive will use the crowdfunding platform Charity Extra and will be match-funded thanks to a generous group of donors. This means that for every £1 pledged during the 36-hour period, Dorothy House will receive £2 up to a total of £500,000.
All money raised will help Dorothy House to provide more much-needed palliative and end of life care in our community.
Research shows that by 2025 over 5,200 people each year across Bath and North East Somerset, parts of Wiltshire and Somerset will need palliative and end of life care – a striking increase on current levels. To respond to this growing need, Dorothy House’s ambition is to expand and enhance its services over the next three years. Projections show that the charity will need to raise an additional £2 million to achieve this.
