Published on an annual basis, The Legal 500 is widely regarded as a “definitive” list of leading UK and worldwide law firms.
As part of the process for inclusion in the directory, input is sought from clients and referrers alike to determine the level of service provided and the calibre of work being conducted by firms. Clients are contacted by The Legal 500 to provide anonymous testimonials in support of the rankings.
Devizes-basedWansbroughs has once again been recommended in the 2023 edition of the directory. The firm’s Private Client team – which provides a wide range of expert advice and guidance in matters relating to complex wills, trusts, tax and probate matters through to large estate planning – has moved up to ‘Tier 2.’
The Commercial Property team ranked ‘Tier 3’ and continues to be recognised for its efficiency, reliability and attention to detail. The Family team ranked ‘Tier 4’ and was recognised for its strong reputation across the South West with Team Leader Naomi Owen receiving many positive testimonials.
The newly formed Corporate and Commercial team, led by Partner and Team Leader William Ingram Hill was also listed in the category ‘Firms to watch.’

Meanwhile, Wiltshire law firmGoughs Solicitors was recognised as one of the South West’s leading law firms for the fifth year running and its Private Client and Real Estate departments both received exemplary feedback and accreditation.
This year, clients praised the firm’s “fantastic depth of experience”, and “personal and impeccable service”. The firm has also been commended for treating clients with “compassion and warmth during what is for most, unchartered territory.”
Lawyers at Goughs were described by clients as “incredibly friendly and knowledgeable”, noting that the “client always comes first”. The family team was noted as “particularly impressive” and the Private Client department was described as “very approachable, reliable, courteous and informed.”

Moreover, there are six listings for Thrings people as Leading Individuals, which refers to true market leaders with long-established reputations in their sector and widespread recognition and endorsement from their peers and clients. This list included Ramona Derbyshire from the Swindon office.
