Corsham-based Queens Square Wealth Management has announced that two of its team were named as ‘Finalists’ in the national Professional Adviser ‘Women in Financial Advice Awards 2021,’ which were held at The Brewery in London last month.
The awards celebrate the achievements of women working in the financial advice community and were open to those whose achievements and work within financial advice in the UK have helped enhance the sector or raise its profile as a career for women – whether through education, training, leadership, mentoring or acting as a role model.
Gemma Young, Practice Director was one of only ten advisers to be shortlisted in the ‘Financial Adviser of the Year – South West’ category, and Emma Roberts, Operations Manager, was shortlisted in the ‘Woman of the Year – In-house Adviser Support’ category.
The awards are not about men versus women or whether a particular gender is more suited to a career or role in financial services – they are simply about celebrating and recognising the achievements of women in a sector where they continue to be under-represented.
Gemma explained, “For the QSWM family, to have members of our team be shortlisted for not just one, but two awards is fantastic and a testament to the hard work we put in every day to ensure our clients are getting the very best service. I am grateful and honoured to be nominated.”
Emma, who only changed her career into Financial Services when she joined the Practice six months before the start of the pandemic, was taken aback by the nomination. She said, “I’m honoured to not only be nominated but to also have been named as a finalist is a fantastic achievement for someone is very new to the industry, but it would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the team I work with and the people I support – so this is as much about them as it is about me.”
