Seminar will turn up heat on energy debate

The hot topic of energy will be in the spotlight at a Swindon seminar next month.

As Swindon Council looks into speeding up the planning process for low carbon schemes in the borough, Banks BHG chartered accountants will host an energy breakfast which focuses on different forms of energy, including green energy as an investment opportunity.

Energy expert Christopher Hughes-Rees will be guest speaker at the event on March 6. Christopher, director of Berkshire-based Mezaro Energy, is a former chartered accountant with more than 30 years’ experience in the energy industry, and whose company acts as a consultancy to the sector.
His talk will focus on alternative forms of energy, including onshore wind farms and solar energy; climate change initiatives; trends in the sector; and oil and gas energy in relation to green and nuclear energy.

Currently, Swindon Council is creating local development orders (LDOs) for low carbon schemes. An LDO allows councils to fast-track planning for schemes that fall within the LDO’s scope.  One LDO will focus on solar farms and there are 30 sites in the borough under consideration.

Carmel Ardrey, Banks BHG business development manager, said: “The presentation will be ideal for anybody thinking of turning their land into something profitable and for those already involved in the process but wanting more information.”

The breakfast runs from 7.30-9am and is free. To book, visit www.banksbhg.com or email claire.hunt@banksbhg.com
