NatWest helps Swindon boxing trainer fulfil lifetime ambition

Renowned boxing trainer Paddy Fitzpatrick has fulfilled a long-held ambition by buying the gym he rents in Swindon thanks to a loan from NatWest.

Paddy, who has worked with world champions and other high profile fighters such as Laila Ali, Kid Diamond, William Guthrie, Lucia Ryjker, Lamon Brewster, Jamie Cox and Georgie Groves, first opened up Fitzpatrick’s Professional Boxing Gym when he returned to the UK nine years ago after living in the United States and Germany.

The NatWest loan will also enable improvements to be made to the accommodation at the gym which is the first professional boxing gym in the UK to cater for both male and female fighters, as well as being used by the general public.

Paddy said: “This is a dream come true for me, not only to be able to buy my gym but to have my family home on the same piece of land. Boxing has been my passion since I was 12 years old and I have been blessed to travel the world with it. But to finally put roots down here in Swindon and own my gym as opposed to renting is unbelievable.

“I owe a huge thank you to Ben Trought of NatWest for working so very hard for myself and my wife for helping to make this happen, and also a massive, massive thank you to Richard Curtis of Juniper Homes Ltd for building us our dream home on the site.”

Ben Trought, Relationship Manager, NatWest, said: “This is one of UK’s top gyms for the development of boxing talent and is also a great community hub. We wish them every success.”

Aspire Commercial Finance brokered the deal.
