Nationwide’s Croft Branch, in Swindon, hosts fraud specialists in support of awareness raising day

On Thursday March 16, building societies and banks across the country will join forces in support of the national fraud awareness ‘Take Five Day’.

For the first time this dedicated day will see events take place at building societies, banks and other financial services providers up and down the country encouraging everyone to find out more about how they can protect themselves from financial fraud.

In Swindon Nationwide Building Society branches will open 5 minutes early, at 8.55am – branch employees will be on hand to answer questions and help local people learn how to better protect themselves from financial fraud.  Leaflets and business cards detailing the 5 top tips will be handed out:

  1. Never disclose security details (such as PIN or passwords)
  2. Don’t assume an email, text or phone call is genuine
  3. Don’t be rushed
  4. Listen to your instincts
  5. Stay in control

Representatives from Nationwide’s fraud team, based at the Society’s head office, will also be available to answer questions from customers at the Croft Branch on Pipers Way.  

Take Five Day is part of the Take Five campaign, launched by Financial Fraud Action UK and backed by Nationwide, the world’s largest building society, and all major banks and key financial services providers across the UK. It aims to put consumers and businesses back in control with straight forward advice to help prevent financial fraud.
