Monahans named one of the top three UK charity accountants for customer service

Chartered accountants Monahans have been ranked in the top 20 accountancy firms in the UK for the charity sector by audit fees and in the top three for “overall service” provided to clients in an annual survey published by Charity Finance magazine.

The Charity Audit Survey examines questionnaires completed anonymously by more than 1,000 UK charities, along with audit data from the UK’s Top 350 charities by income. It also allows them to rate their professional advisers against a range of criteria, including sector expertise, overall service levels and value for money.

Since last year, Monahans has risen 11 places, from  31st to  20th this year. In addition to ranking according to fees, Charity Finance also speaks directly to accountants’ clients to gauge their level of satisfaction with the service they receive.  35 of the firm’s charity clients responded to the survey, of which 97% placed Monahans in the best possible category, which gave them the ranking of third best accountancy practice in the UK for client service.

The combined annual income of all charities completing the 2015 survey stood at a total of £25.9bn and, with the new Statement of Recommended Practice or SORP accounting regime coming into practice from 2015, this year’s survey has taken on additional significance.

Linda Boss, Charity Partner at Monahans, said: “We’re very pleased to have been recognised as in the top three for client service and as a top 20 firm for the charitable sector.  It is thanks to the feedback from our clients that we have been able to reach these positions.”

“To be ranked alongside some of the biggest accountancy firms in the UK in an independent survey is a wonderful achievement and I’m proud of the Monahans charity team for their continued dedication and professional approach. The new Charity SORP regime will mean that it is now more important than ever that charities get the right advice to plan for the additional disclosure requirements that will result from the changes. We are looking forward to implementing the new SORP and to working with our clients to help them in addressing the required changes.”

Monahans has specialised in providing accountancy and audit services to charities for over 15 year and Partners Linda Boss and Steve Fraser were in the first cohort in the UK to be awarded the Diploma in Charity Accounting.
