The Inspire and Devizes Business Breakfast and networking event is taking place at the Bear Hotel, Devizes on Tuesday March 8.
This event’s key speaker is Ged Montgomery, director of Julia’s House, Wiltshire’s first ever children’s hospice.
About Julia’s House
A little over a year ago, Julia’s House Children’s Hospice launched a home-based respite care service to families of life-limited children living in South Wiltshire. Despite living just a few miles over the Dorset border, where they have offered specialist care for more than a decade, these Wiltshire families had no access to this sort of frequent support. Unsurprisingly, their first steps into south Wiltshire were warmly welcomed by both families and healthcare professionals. Now, in response to increasing demand, Julia’s House has now started to take their Community Care Service county-wide in Wiltshire.
Building the first centrally-located children’s hospice for Wiltshire is integral to their vision of helping as many families as possible. As a result, they have just purchased a property in Devizes to make the new hospice as accessible as possible for Wiltshire families.
They plan to look after 100 children in Wiltshire with each child having access to 200 hours of care every year. Unfortunately, Julia’s House only receive 5% government funding so to make this vision for a Wiltshire children’s hospice a reality, they will rely heavily on public support.
