Chippenham-based Purpol Marketing and its Founder Denise O’Leary MBE were named the winner of two Gold, three Silver and two Bronze Stevie® Awards at the 2023 Stevie® Awards for Women In Business last month.

With an additional two wins of Silver and Bronze for its client Cherishers 811 CIC, Purpol was also recognised with a Grand Stevie® Award.

The Stevie® Awards for Women in Business honour the achievements of women executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and the companies they run– worldwide.

Nicknamed the Stevies after the Greek word for “crowned,” the awards were presented to winners during a gala event attended by nominees and their guests at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York on 10th November 2023. The event was broadcast via Livestream.

More than 1,600 entries were submitted this year for consideration in more than 100 categories.

Denise won two Gold Stevie® Awards in the Categories: Mentor or Coach of the Year – Marketing/Public Relations/Social Media and The Best Female Entrepreneur in Europe, the Middle East & Africa.

She additionally won three Silver Stevie® Awards for Social Change Maker of the Year – Disability; Mentor or Coach of the Year – Government or Non-Profit and also Most Innovative Woman of the Year – Government or Non-Profit for the work Denise has done raising over £280k in grant funding for charities since July 2021.

Furthermore, Denise was recognised with two Bronze awards in the categories Woman of the Year – Government or Non-Profit and Achievement in Equal Pay.

As Purpol has supported Cherishers 811 on a ‘no win no fee basis’ for grant writing during the pandemic, Denise secretly wrote award entries for Cherishers 811 CIC and was delighted to inform them they were finalist in both the Equal Pay and Organisation of the Year – Government or Non-Profit– More Than 10 Employees categories. Cherishers 811 were ultimately recognised with a Bronze for Achievement in Equal Pay and a Silver for Organisation of the Year – Government or Non-Profit– More Than 10 Employees.

Top 5 Awards are five best-of-competition prizes that were presented to the organisations that submitted the best collection of entries to the Stevie® Awards for Women in Business, in their own name or in the names of one or more clients. The winners of these prizes were awarded the Grand Stevie Award trophy.

Purpol Marketing ranked #3 worldwide, above many multinational organisations – IBM claimed the #1 position.

Maggie Miller, President of the Stevie Awards, said, “In its 20th year, the Stevie Awards for Women in Business received an outstanding body of nominations from women in organizations of all types, in 26 nations. We are gratified by how meaningful it is to women to win a Stevie Award, and how impactful it can be on the futures of their careers and their organizations. We congratulate all of this year’s Grand, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie Award winners for their achievements.”

Purpol Founder Denise O’Leary MBE commented, “We are honoured, amazed and thrilled to be recognised across such a variety of categories. To know that our mentoring, marketing, bid writing and charity grant writing have been acclaimed as exemplary by worldwide judges just goes to prove that small businesses can achieve international recognition. The icing on the cake was that our friends Cherishers also won two awards and we could all celebrate together. And to win a Grand Stevie Award against the largest and most prestigious organisations worldwide – what a thrill, The Big Apple did not disappoint!”
