Professional photographer and business author Lis McDermott is running an event to help fellow business women look their best in front of the camera.

Lis, author of the book ‘Headshot Diva – why your business profile affects your bottom line’ is running an event next month to help women in business present themselves and their brand appropriately, especially when being photographed.

‘Presenting Brand You’ will help women be more confident in their appearance in a variety of public business situations including being captured on camera – something which happens far more frequently today than in the past.

Lis, who lives in Royal Wootton Bassett, said: “This is not an event where we will talking about how to create your brand or logo – it is about how to position your body, choose appropriate clothing and embrace your personality in order to showcase your brand and business appropriately to a wider audience. Often people will make snap judgements about another person based upon their looks and their body language. This can make people nervous in situations where they may have their photograph taken on the spur of the moment.

“With the growth of social media, this can matter a great deal to business people, especially women. This workshop will help them to pose correctly, think about what they are wearing and plan for being ‘captured’ unawares at a business event.”

Situations where business people have to stand out might include:

*photographs at a business event, both formal and informal.

*public speaking to a crowd

*engaging with others at a networking event for the first time

*collecting an award.

The workshop takes place at Jury’s Inn, Swindon on Monday May 15 from 9am to 4pm and will include advice from Lis with activities to practise posing and small group work. There will also be a speaker on how to dress for ‘Brand You’.

Every participant will be also receive a digital headshot from the day. The cost per delegate is £149 and there will be a maximum of ten participants. Tickets are available from
