Climate change is the biggest environmental threat our planet faces but it can be a challenge to understand how we can each make a difference. That’s why on Thursday 9th September, Swindon Borough Council will be hosting an event in Swindon as part of a national Zero Carbon Tour across the UK, ending at COP26 in Glasgow later this year.
The event will be hosted at STEAM from 2pm to 5pm and will welcome local businesses and organisations from across the Borough. It hopes to empower and inspire businesses to take action against climate change by providing information on everything they need to know to become more sustainable and reduce their carbon emissions.
The session will:
Simplify climate change jargon
Highlight how businesses can set their own realistic net zero carbon targets
Showcase sustainability initiatives from other local businesses and groups
Provide an opportunity to network with like-minded people
The event is free to attend and will also be live-streamed for those unable to attend on the day. To find out more and to register for the event click here.
The physical event in Swindon will also be followed by a virtual South West Net Zero Carbon Essentials Workshop, held on Thursday 23rd September, which will delve into net zero in a more in-depth, practical way. The three-hour workshop will provide participants with a deeper understanding of net zero, some practical solutions for reducing their carbon emissions and will demonstrate how to pledge a net zero target. Participants will leave with a certificate to confirm their involvement in the session. Register your attendance here.
