Last night (Thursday 1st August), Swindon’s Hop Kettle Brewery played host to the second official YES (Young Entrepreneurs Swindon) event.
Organised by Dan Petitt and Ben Lawton from Ottr Works, Andrew Wells, Business West and Anita Jaynes, The Business Exchange, the evening brought together professionals aged 18-35 from all areas of business and from across Wiltshire.
Hop Kettle Brewery quenched thirsts with a selection of its beers, from pale ales, to hoppy IPAs and traditional bitters.
Tim Sherhod from Hop Kettle gave a short talk on the local brewery’s history, being founded in nearby Cricklade and how it has evolved into the brand it is today.
The brewery’s offering was perfectly paired with a sharing platter from fellow Swindon indie business, The Grazing Company. Sophie Thomas told the crowd about her start-up and it’s unique offering, curating produce from across Wiltshire and creating colourful, flavoursome platters and grazing boxes for corporate events, parties, weddings and for people to enjoy at home.
YESwindon is sponsored by the Swindon & Wiltshire Growth Hub with the aim to help young people develop new relationships, increase business connections and increase their knowledge and awareness of the business support opportunities available locally.
Chris Stevens, Business Skills Consultant with Higher Futures, representing the Swindon & Wiltshire Growth Hub said, “The YES events are a great opportunity to highlight in an informal environment the opportunities available to young entrepreneurs, helping them and their staff to grow their business by learning new skills, or building on existing ones.”
Dan Pettit, Ottr Works, added, “Walking around the brewery and interacting with so many young and driven people was the exact reason why we facilitate these events. There’s no better sense of achievement than hearing positive comments about YES and seeing familiar faces return from the previous event. I cannot wait to see what’s next.”
YESwindon’s goal is to host events every 6 weeks, with interchanging locations, themes and talkers.
