This week, a businesswoman known as ‘The Entrepreneur’s Godmother’ is living up to her name, having created a free, Summer Holiday Survival Guide for parents in business. A resource designed to help enable a good work/life balance during the summer holidays.
This project has been a huge collaboration alongside multiple contributors, including the support of HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York and founder of iDEA and children’s author Martin Roberts who is offering his assistance by donating copies of his new children’s book, Sadsville, in support of the NSPCC and Childline’ which will be part of a giveaway in the Mums Can Clan Facebook group, where the majority of the activity will take place.
The survival guide has also received sponsorship from 9Spokes, a free business dashboard, taking all of the data from every angle required to run a business including: cashflow, marketing open rates and social media interaction. Thus, allowing business owners to structure their time more wisely and ultimately have a more productive summer.
Referred to as ‘The Entrepreneur’s Godmother’, Chippenham-based Alison Edgar, has received messages from parents all over the country thanking her for her free guide which is now available to download via this link. It includes a variety of tasks and activities including recreational activities you can enjoy with your children, but also reflective tasks to enable you to be in control of time demands and balancing work and children. There is a downloadable mum’s weekly planner, as well as lighter content focused around the kids.
Complementing the Summer Holiday Survival Kit is the private Facebook group, the Mums Can Clan, established to enable parents to meet and communicate with like-minded parents and business owners who are in exactly the same position.
Alison Edgar said: “I know that being a mum in business can be very stressful, especially during the holidays. So, we think that the Summer Holiday Survival Kit is a great tool for mums and dads alike to look after themselves, their children, and their businesses. I only launched it a few days ago and already I’ve had fantastic feedback, so I know I’ve hit a nerve. It’s my mission to help thousands of parents with this guide, to enjoy the summer and to enable them to create fantastic memories with their families, without stressing about work.”
Helping Alison run the five-week programme, is Lucy Waller – an English Literature and Creative Writing undergraduate from Bath Spa University, who is on a fully funded internship by the university. Not only are mums benefitting from the plan, but the skills that Lucy is learning from this will be future beneficial to her career.
The Entrepreneur’s Godmother’s usual remit is working with start-ups, micro businesses and owner-managed businesses teaching them how to sell, after 25 successful years in blue chip sales.
