Work “progressing well” on £8m mixed-use Swindon development

Hinton Group, the Bromsgrove-based commercial property specialist, recently announced that the construction of an £8m mixed-use development in Wiltshire, including a hotel and two food and drink drive-thru outlets, is underway and “progressing well.”

The development at Barnfield Close, Rodbourne, Swindon, is being delivered by Hinton Group on behalf of Loc8 Developments, with funding from LXi Reit.

It includes a 70-bedroom Travelodge with a Starbucks drive-thru and “one of the UK’s first” Subway drive-thru outlets.

The 39-week project is expected to reach practical completion in March 2019.

Roadside and leisure development specialists Loc8 acquired the former allotment land in a conditional site purchase from Swindon Borough Council. Planning permission was granted last year.

“The completed project will see a new 70-bedroom Travelodge with adjacent, high quality, drive-thru outlets providing food and drink options for the local people and visitors to the area. It will be an exciting new addition to the retail and leisure sector in Swindon.”

Loc8 Developments Ltd is a privately owned commercial property development company based in Clifton, Bristol. It specialises in retail and roadside leisure development and has been acquiring sites in the South West region for “over ten years.”

Hinton Group is a privately owned company specialising in land acquisition, development, architectural design and construction, principally for the retail and leisure sectors. It has been delivering development solutions for over two decades and claims to have developed over 1.5 million sq ft of commercial, retail, leisure and office space.
