Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, a luxury hotel located near Calne, has been named as a finalist in the ‘Large Hotel of the Year’ category at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2023.

Sitting at the heart of the 2,000-acre Bowood Estate, the hotel has been named as one of three finalists up for the national industry accolade – after winning ‘gold’ at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards earlier in the year.

The awards champion the very best of the country’s tourism industry, celebrating quality, innovation, best practice and exceptional customer service, whilst VisitEngland plays a unique role in raising Britain’s profile worldwide.

Jeff Condliffe, General Manager at Bowood Hotel, said, “To receive recognition on a local level by achieving gold in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards is a remarkable feat for the hotel, but to go one step further and be recognised on the national stage is incredible. It is a real testament to the hard work and dedication of the Bowood team, who have worked tirelessly to provide our guests with exceptional experiences. This nomination is a proud moment for all of us and we look forward to continuing our award-winning work.”

The boutique-style hotel, which offers luxurious accommodation and leisure facilities with a state-of-the-art spa and PGA Championship Golf Course, is up against the Rockliffe Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort in County Durham and the Titanic Hotel Liverpool for the top prize.

Andrew Stokes, VisitEngland Director, said, “This impressive list of finalists demonstrates the innovation and excellence thriving across England’s tourism industry. The quality and number of applications also highlights the outstanding range of products and experiences on offer for both domestic and international visitors. We wish the finalists the very best of luck.”

This year’s awards align with 16 local competitions from across England with winners automatically put forward for the national awards. The ceremony will be held at Warner Bros Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter on 7th June, where gold, silver and bronze winners will be announced at the black tie event.

The chosen charity for this year’s event will be the Family Holiday Charity, which helps to provide families time away together.
