Denise O’Leary, founder of Wiltshire-based Purpol Marketing and Alison Edgar, managing director of Sales Coaching Solutions Ltd and the Entrepreneur’s Godmother, are celebrating being named in the list of the UK’s top 50 business advisers.

The competition – which is run by Enterprise Nation and Experian –  aims to recognise small business advisers with a “credible track record” in helping other businesses to grow, develop and succeed.

Denise was shortlisted in the ‘Branding and Design’ category and Alison was nominated in the ‘Sales and Marketing’ category.

According to the event organisers, the next stage is a public vote, where each adviser in the respective category will be named the overall winner.

The competition is organised into the following categories:

• branding & design
• export
• finance & funding.
• human resources
• IT & web support
• leadership & management.
• legal
• public relations
• sales, marketing & strategy.

Purpol Marketing supports SMEs with business strategy, bid management and customer relationship management while Sales Coaching Solutions teaches start-ups, micros, SME’s and sales teams how to “improve their sales and grow their businesses.”

Denise said: “I am truly honoured and excited to be on this year’s shortlist of the Top 50 Adviser’s 2018. As a marketing business, being nominated for the branding and design category is a massive achievement and acknowledgment of the projects we deliver on behalf of our clients.”

Alison added that she was “overwhelmed” to have been chosen again three years on from her original win in 2015.

She said: “I just do what I do best by helping businesses to sell their fantastic products and services, to have it recognised is amazing.”

Emma Jones MBE, founder of Enterprise Nation added: “Behind every successful small business is a network of specialists who know how to maximise an SME’s chances of thriving. As their companies grow, the founders and senior staff at SMEs often take on a range of responsibilities which are outside of their usual field of expertise. These awards will highlight those who provide professional guidance to the engine of our economy.”

The top ten business advisers will be announced at an event in London on Monday, 12 March.
