Business coaching company Raising the Baa is inviting the local community to enjoy live music, local food, games and more in the Wiltshire countryside, all in support of Swindon youth charity Inner Flame.

Keeping the Summer vibe in the air, the Spit ‘n’ Sawdust fundraiser social event will take place on Saturday 3rd September from 14:30 – 19:30 in Poulshot. It will include a slow-cooked lamb on a home-made spit-roast and the venue is a horse stud where there is a menage filled with sawdust, explaining the name and conveying the rustic nature of the event.

Matt Owens, Founder of band Noah and the Whale, will be performing live to kick off the proceedings.

After food has been served (vegetarian option also available) ukelele group Strum and Crumb will strike up with lots of tunes and there’ll be games to play and a hoop-la bottle stall too with various drinks (from Sprite to Prosecco) to be won.

Soft and hot drinks will be freely available but attendees can bring their own alcoholic beverages (glasses and mugs provided).

Rowdey Cow ice creams will be available to purchase on the day too. Dogs are welcome , provided they are always on a lead and that owners clear up any ‘business.’

Caroline Palmer, Managing Director of Raising the Baa said, “We are running this event to raise desperately needed funds for local young people’s charity Inner Flame.

“Chris [Farnsworth] and I have supported the charity since its launch in 2008, by running pro bono ‘team building with sheep’ programmes for young people as an ice-breaker for their courses.

“Inner Flame gives disadvantaged young adults a better shot in life by helping them manage anxiety, build confidence and understand themselves better. Our target is to raise £1000 as part of a larger team goal, which will fund an entire eight-week ‘Manage Anxiety: Your Way’ programme for 10-12 young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.”

Caroline added, “Together with five other hardy (some might describe us in other ways!) chaps we’re taking on a mountain-climbing challenge in October. It’ll be the toughest physical ascent that any of us have ever faced and quite frankly it’s scaring us to death! We’re all paying our way to take part, the funds raised are 100% for Inner Flame.”
