2013 has been a monumental year for fast growing online company Total Guide to Ltd, based in Swindon.
Following the launch of Total Swindon (www.totalswindon.com) in 2012 they achieved fast success as the go-to portal in the town for lifestyle, sport. entertainment, eating out, community news and business. They had their sights set on growing the business to other locations across the South West from day one and in February of this year Total Bath (www.totalguidetobath.com) was launched.
After several months of hard graft in April they were ready to raise their profile locally and launched their first major marketing strategy. Successful print and radio campaigns were swiftly followed by a billboard outside of Swindon Town Football Club. As big supporters of their home team, they couldn’t think of a better place to make their mark.
Keen to build relationships within the sporting community Total also began sponsoring Bath Rugby Player, Kane Palma-Newport to raise their visibility in the Bath community.
To further the company’s growth, in June came several new additions to the team, Rachael Booth, Sales Manager and social media specialists Rachael Hassall and Jessica Lepore.
The launch of Google Map API in 2013 enabled the Total websites to develop even further allowing users to filter through location; taking the sites one step further in terms of a user friendly interface and greater accessibility.
Their third site ‘Total Bristol’ went live ahead of schedule in September; opening many more doors for Total Guide to Ltd (www.totalbristol.com) and proving the business model is transferable to any location regardless of size.
In November they hired apprentice Laura Mead to provide administrative support for the team. The company swiftly grew and in December they made another jump to new offices in Kingsdown Orchard behind Swindon’s oldest Business HQ, Arkells Brewery to accommodate the rapid growth of the team.
December saw the mobile site go live, and the acquisition of a digital company, which has now been launched as Total Digital. This means Total can now offer a full digital experience for clients, providing SEO, PPC, Social Media Training and Management, online advertising and email marketing.
To add the cherry on the top of an action packed year, James Phipps invested in TGtLtd taking the company to the next level. Director of Total Guide to, Liz Ledger said: “We’ve been working with James and Excalibur since Total Swindon went live in March 2012. Despite the business making a profit in its first year of trading and many propositions of investment, from working with James and his business I knew 100% that he was the right man to assist us in our big plans for the roll-out of the business quickly and successfully.”
James Phipps commented “I wanted to get involved in a dynamic business within a niche market. Having seen the success and rapid growth in TGtLtd. in its first year, and its ability to maintain this standard and tenacity, I had no doubts about becoming part of this innovative company.”
2014 will no doubt bring many new challenges and adventures for the Total team. In February they will be launching their fourth site, ‘Total Manchester’ with the aim to launch 6 new sites over the year.
Total would like to thank all their suppliers, freelancers and customers for being a valuable part of our journey, and supporting them throughout 2013.
