Torin-Sifan continues to invest in Swindon

Swindon-based Torin-Sifan, a leading producer of energy efficient fan technology to the European air movement industry, has built on infrastructure investment made earlier this year with the expansion of its head office in Swindon. The company has also created two new apprenticeship positions to help train local youngsters.

A state-of-the-art logistical centre has been created at Torin-Sifan’s Greenbridge HQ which will aid the company in offering optimised service levels and greater reactivity to customer demands. This significant investment follows on from the company opening its new ‘EC Manufacturing & Technology Centre’ on a second site in Swindon, earlier in the year. This continued investment in facilities in Swindon allows Torin-Sifan to remain a leader in motor technology and will bring many benefits to customers.

“At Torin-Sifan we are committed to improving our already high standards in all departments of our business” said Paul Kilburn, managing director of Torin-Sifan. “The creation of a new state-of-the-art logistical centre in Swindon demonstrates our commitment to improving on time delivery and customer service levels.”

The new logistical centre’s increased storage allows Torin-Sifan to invest in more raw materials and store greater volumes of finished goods, aiding delivery times and stock management. These investments have been made on a number of levels with new forklifts being purchased and racking being significantly upgraded.

As well as infrastructure investment, Torin-Sifan is investing in its staff with two Stores Apprentices appointed to work alongside the experienced stores department. These one-year apprenticeships provide high quality on-the-job training in stock management, stock rotation and delivery to line.

“Torin-Sifan is committed to apprenticeship schemes because we believe that they can provide an opportunity for young people to get into the workplace, understand the working environment whilst at the same time obtaining continuous learning activities” said Pam Collier, HR manager at Torin-Sifan.

This new expansion follows more than five decades of successful manufacturing in Swindon. Torin-Sifan expanded its manufacturing capabilities in February 2015 when it opened its state-of-the-art ‘EC Manufacturing & Technology Centre’ in Swindon, a centre of excellence for the production of highly efficient EC (electronically commutated) motor, fan and blower products.

Torin-Sifan is leading the way in EC technology in the UK and is further enhancing British engineering capabilities with its ongoing investment in technology and facilities. The company is also a leading light in British exports. EC technology is highly efficient and offers significant energy savings when compared to traditional AC technology. Sustainability is an important consideration at Torin-Sifan and the carbon savings that are offered by EC technology are achieved through both better efficiency and longer product life.

With 50 years as a leading producer of the latest fan technology, Torin-Sifan continues to set the standard in motor, fan and blower products.
