TOMORROW- Find out how to get a slice of the £230Bn government spend for SMEs

By Anita Jaynes on 14 April, 2015

Lord Young has announced that the government wants 25% of its procurement spend to be with small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), but many smaller businesses lack the skills to be able to bid for government contracts. Local authorities want to use local suppliers, but as a business you need to show the service that you offer to them in the best light.

Purpol Marketing, specialists in government contract bid management and Sales Coaching Solutions, specialists in sales training have combined their expertise to provide practical and valuable insight into how SME’s can effectively bid for local authority contracts.

Bid management is a specialist field, it demands understanding and conformance with strict procurement requirements. For success you need the generation of a compelling response backed up with relevant evidence.

They are holding a half day workshop tomorrow 15 April, that will provide you with the tools that you need to be able to bid with confidence. They will take you through the bidding process from the supplier perspective, providing hints on what you need to include and also importantly what not to do.

They will show you how the optimal presentation of your information will make it easier for the council to award you the contract. Starting with looking for opportunities, through the completion of procurement information and on to how to sell yourself and your company at the interview stage.

The workshop will cover the following elements:

•             How to achieve consistently successful bids.

•             Why certain bids fail.

•             Critical elements in the bidding approach.

•             Emotional and Rational Buying Motives.

•             Golden rules to deliver bid success.

•             Essential Sales techniques to win at interview

•             Practical tips you can apply today to improve your bids

The workshop, held at the Chippenham Golf Club, starts with coffee, tea and biscuits at 8.30am. The course will get underway at 9am, with mid-morning break and a buffet lunch for networking at 12:30-1:30pm.

The workshop will be delivered by Denise O’Leary of Purpol Marketing and Alison Edgar of Sales Coaching Solutions. Denise has helped companies win places on £bn frameworks as well as much smaller local government contracts and is a finalist in both the Enterprising Wiltshire Awards and the Wiltshire Business of the Year awards. Alison is recognised as one of the UK’s top 10 business coaches and is also a finalist for two categories in the Wiltshire Business of the Year awards.
