TODAY- Outset Swindon Building Business Connections Event

By Anita Jaynes on 20 November, 2014

Today at Blunsdon House Hotel Outset Swindon is hosting a Building Business Connections event from 10am-3pm.

The aim of the day is to connect Swindon businesses, make new contacts and identify new opportunities in Swindon. The event forms part of Global Entrepreneurship Week activities.

Building Business Connections is a free business event that has been created to provide business owners and decision makers with an opportunity to meet new suppliers and network with Swindon’s growing business community.

The key speaker of the day is Neil Clough of Apprentice fame. Neil was a finalist in the 2013 series of the show. Opening the event Neil said: “The Apprentice was a massive experience for me and something I’m really thankful for.” Neil’s speech is aimed to motive attendees today, he said: “50% of success comes from motivation and 50% comes from skill and a good business plan. If you’re not motivated you’re never going to find your full potential. What is your motivation? Mine is due to the death of my father. He was a true inspiration in my life and never gave up on me as a kid in my quest to be a professional footballer.”

“Think about what makes your business different? To stand out from the crowd you have to be unique and different. One in four start-ups fail in their first year.  Don’t give up when you fail, learn from your mistakes. Believe in yourself and you’re halfway there to achieving your goals.”

The event expects 100 delegates and workshops will be taking place throughout the day in the Redwood room at the hotel.

Justin Tomlinson MP addressed the crowds saying: “Outset Swindon is there to help you, offering mentoring and support. Start-up businesses create the next generation of jobs. In the last year 355 new businesses have opened in Swindon, the fastest growing rate in the south west. We really are an entrepreneurial town. Through all the hard work you are putting in, you truly are heroes and I thank you all.”

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) are supporting the event and The Business Exchange Swindon & Wiltshire is media partner.
