The Learning Curve is an established charity which aims to change the lives of socially and economically disadvantaged people by delivering learning and guidance both directly to their beneficiaries and through partner organisations. As a result of their work beneficiaries are better able to support themselves and lead fulfilled lives.Founded in Wiltshire in 1999, the charity operates across the South West, with the main office and training centre located in Melksham.
The Learning Curve’s key beneficiary groups include:
Young People 16-24 including young parents and parents to be and young people not taking up other education, employment or training opportunities (NEETs)
Ex-Offenders
Carers
Unemployed adults, including returners to work and those who have never worked
Older people
Volunteers
The charity is part of the Selwood Housing Group that offers 6,000 affordable homes, has nearly 200 staff and four subsidiary companies including repairs and improvement business, Silcoa.
The Learning Curve is currently actively recruiting three new board members to join the team in 2016. They are looking for applicants who live within an hours drive of Trowbridge with experience of working in a leadership role at board director or senior management level.

Knowledge and experience of the education, training or skills sectors, quality frameworks and income generation would be an advantage, but is not essential.
By using your knowledge, experience and a commitment to equality and diversity, you will work with the rest of the Learning Curve board, the group board and senior staff to help them continue to improve their services, develop strategy and achieve corporate aims.
Your time commitment will equate to around ten hours per month (including preparation time) and you will also be expected to attend training and other events.
