The Platform Project announces ‘epic’ summer fundraising extravaganza

Businesses in and around Swindon are invited to take part in The Platform Project’s Epic Game Show summer fundraising event.

Working to help disadvantaged and vulnerable young people in the local area, The Platform Project provides opportunities to develop the skills, experience and confidence they need to stay in education and go on to launch successful careers.

This year’s black-tie event, which will feature a live gameshow, DJ, entertainment and food and drink, is being held on Saturday 10th June at MECA.

Proceeds from the event will help the non-profit to continue its important work with young people in and around Swindon, and now internationally as well.

In 2022 they took their youth enterprise programme oversees to run for a community school in Kenya which inspired young people with the idea of starting their own businesses. The Platform Project is now aiming to continue this relationship with the school and use some of the funds raised at the event to also cover some of the young entrepreneurs start-up costs.

The Platform Project’s Founder, Sadie Sharp, said, “We’re reaching out to local businesses to take part in this year’s event as there’s a huge synergy between what we do with young people and the region’s business community.

“The Platform Project is about inspiring young people into business, and what better way to do that than having some of Swindon’s best and brightest in attendance.

“The event is going to be our biggest to date. It’s a great opportunity for socialising with your staff, meeting people from other businesses, having fun and, most importantly, raising funds to inspire a new generation into business, both in Swindon and through the project in Kenya.”

In addition to planning for the summer fundraiser, the non-profit is also looking to bolster its team by recruiting an Alternative Provision Youth Trainer to work with its growing number of school students.

Sadie added, “It’s a really exciting time to join the Platform Project and make a tangible difference to the futures of young people. We would love to hear from anyone who has the ability and drive to inspire the next generation into business, whether that’s joining our team, supporting the fundraising event, or partnering with us as a local business.”

Tickets for the fundraiser event start from £25 per person or £250 for a corporate table of 10, and are available via The Platform Project website
