Teenagers invited to show their entrepreneurial spirit as part of Trowbridge Arts Festival

The Trowbridge Town Team is working together with the Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce, Trowbridge Arts and Town Council to bring the Teenage Market back to the Town Hall on Saturday October 17.

Young people, aged between 13-30, are encouraged to get involved by either holding a market stall or performing between 11:00 and 15:00 as part of the Trowbridge Arts Festival that runs from the October 16 to November 1 with events in various venues around the town.

David Baker, Chair of Trowbridge Town Team said, “We held our first Teenage Market last year, which was a great success and also produced our Entrepreneur of the Year, Maxine Aldridge of Buttons and Bows Boutique, who will be back again this year. Whether you have produced goods to sell or can sing, dance, act, juggle or do magic we welcome any young person who would like to promote themselves and their product.”

The stall is provided free and insurance is included, however food and drink can’t be sold due to weights and measures restrictions.

Tracy Sullivan of Trowbridge Arts, added, “We are looking forward to hosting the Teenage Market in and around the Town Hall along with a variety of performers and artists. There should be something for everyone with 14 stalls and 10 performances and entrance to the public is free. The Teenage Market fills the Town Hall with fun, music and laughter and we would also encourage young people interested in the Arts to come and volunteer during the festival, which is a great opportunity for them to meet new people, learn something new and, for sixth formers, it fulfills part of their Personalised Extended Curriculum requirements.”

The Trowbridge Chamber and Town Team will also be offering the young entrepreneurs the opportunity to join programmes such as the World of Work or Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, two educational and operational based initiatives to support them on their journey to develop the skills they need to progress their business or become a sought after employee for local industry.
