Businesses from Swindon, Wiltshire and beyond are invited to attend the region’s flagship technology awards, the Techies.
Come along, meet the finalists, sponsors and judges, soak up the atmosphere as the winners are announced, and hear about the amazing tech innovation happening on our doorstep.
The award ceremony and networking event will take place on Thursday 20th October 2022 at Sandstorm Studios, near Badbury, Swindon, from 7-10pm.
The Business Exchange team can’t wait to have everyone back in a physical room again this year to celebrate the best in Swindon and Wiltshire tech. Sandstorm Films is a fantastic venue to bring us all together. It’s Swindon’s answer to Pinewood Studios. The firm’s impressive portfolio of full production and studio hire work includes, music videos for Chase and Status, advertising campaigns for Dyson, Nationwide and Intel and working with celebrities such as Jack Black and Bear Grylls.
Sandstorm Films Founder Tom Ward will be joining us on the night to talk about his work and tech innovations, including the Technodolly, a completely unique, fully repeatable camera crane and all axis motion control rig in one.
Despite the challenges of the last two years, the Techies has continued to capture audiences with over 100 people each time, joining us online for the virtual awards (2020) and hybrid awards (2021).
The 2022 awards are extra special as the Techies celebrates five years of the award scheme. As part of the night we will look back on award winners over the years and hear about their progress, successes and growth journeys.
Techies winners also have something very special to look forward to this year, as well as the kudos and publicity from winning a Techies award. We have commissioned 12 awards by artist and engineer, Edward Chudleigh MBE. 12 sculptures are currently in production made from plant-based copper fabric. They will be something special for our winners to treasure and a piece of art to enjoy for years to come.
On the night we will also need the help of the audience to vote and choose the winner of the Outstanding contribution to Swindon and Wiltshire Tech Award, a new award for 2022.
The event will also support local charity Inner Flame which provides free courses to develop confidence, self-worth, life-skills and employability in 16-24 year olds who are at a disadvantage.
Tickets for The Techies are available online to anyone who would like to attend and enjoy the benefits of networking with the area’s best and most innovative technology firms. Tickets cost £45 and include a drink, bowl food, the award ceremony and entertainment.
