SWLEP seeks additional board members

The Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) is looking to recruit Board Members with the ability to contribute significantly and credibly to the work of the SWLEP and to assist the Board in its understanding of the needs of the different areas, business sectors and economic activities within the SWLEP area. This is a high profile voluntary role that will give you genuine influence on the prosperity and future development of the Swindon and Wiltshire area at an exciting and strategically important time.

About SWLEP

Launched in late 2011, SWLEP is a partnership between Swindon Borough Council, Wiltshire Council and a wide range of private sector organisations. SWLEP has the unique role of representing businesses, ensuring that enterprise and economic development are given full consideration in public sector decision-making.

The area is already home to hundreds of successful companies and global brands like Dyson, Honda, Intel, Danone, BMW Mini, the National Trust and the UK Space Agency. The LEP’s role is driving forward economic growth by promoting and developing our region as the perfect location for businesses to thrive.

The role

Over the last two years, SWLEP has developed a reputation as one of the most innovative LEPs in the country, with a strong plan in place for the future. As a Board Member, you will contribute to the overall work of the SWLEP, providing strategic leadership, challenge, insight and support to the Board and contribute to the LEP’s ongoing development.

Your influence will ensure the LEP succeeds in delivering on its four key priorities: stimulating growth, encouraging inward investment, supporting job and skills creation, and expanding upon existing economic infrastructure.

The requirements

You will possess significant experience in an ownership or senior managerial capacity and a proven track record of providing strategic leadership to achieve business objectives. You will also be able to demonstrate expertise and experience of working within the SME, Digital, Education or Housing sectors/categories.

You will be a ‘heavyweight’ in your field, bringing real credibility and presence to the role, be politically aware and have excellent analytical skills.
