SWLEP director steps down

By Anita Jaynes on December 12, 2015

Isobel Brown, director of Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) has announced she will be leaving her role at the end of December 2015, when her current consultancy agreement comes to an end.

Isobel has co-led SWLEP since June 2013, and during her tenure, SWLEP has secured £141m of Central Government capital funding for the Swindon and Wiltshire area through the Local Growth Fund as well as a further €70m from the European Structural Investment Fund which will support local business development. Isobel has also been central to the team which won the City Deal for Swindon and Wiltshire, which will see the area offering a new innovative approach to skills development, aimed at both Service Leavers and civilian employees. She has worked to build stronger relationships with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and Cabinet Office.

As SWLEP moves in to its next phase of development and implementation of the 2016 Strategic Economic Plan (SEP), Isobel felt this was the right time to move onto her next career challenge and allow a new person to bring a fresh perspective to the continued economic development challenge in Swindon and Wiltshire. Isobel is very grateful for the support that she has received from the SWLEP Board during the past two and half years, and wishes every success to those involved in the ongoing delivery of the SWLEP programmes.

On behalf of Isobel’s colleagues and friends in the SWLEP organisation our thanks go to Isobel for her efforts with best wishes for the future.
