An independent craft-beer shop, The Drink Valley, has opened at The Brunel in Swindon Town Centre.
The shop is run by brewer Dhiraj Pujari and his wife Deepali and stocks over 150 different beers, ciders, wines and spirits including locally-produced drinks as well as beverages from national and international artisans.
Dhiraj has worked in the brewing industry for 11 years and has an MSc in Brewing and Distilling. His intention is to also run a Craft Beer Bar in the shop but due to the current pandemic he has had to put these plans on ice for the time-being. Instead Dhiraj and Deepali are concentrating on building up the business from their Canal Walk shop which now stocks an extensive range of beverages, including low-alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks. Next month they will be introducing a same-day delivery service for Swindon customers plus next-day UK deliveries.
Dhiraj said, “I’m delighted that the shop is finally open, it’s been great to be able to welcome our first customers and we’ve had a great reaction from Swindon residents who are really pleased to be able to buy drinks that come from small, artisan breweries.
“The pandemic situation has delayed and altered our original plans but I am confident that there is a strong demand for craft beers and drinks in Swindon and beyond. Most of the ranges that we stock will not be found in the larger supermarkets and that’s what makes them special and interesting.
“This is obviously a challenging time to start any business but I have extensive experience in the brewing industry and have worked as a head-brewer so I know that by focusing on selling really good-tasting products that our customers want to drink and by running an efficient shop and delivery service we can be successful. I am optimistic that once the pandemic situation passes we will be able to enhance the shop and open the Craft Beer Bar as well.”
The Drink Valley is open Monday – Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sundays 11am to 4pm. The shop is situated in The Brunel’s Swindon Emporium, 40-42 Canal Walk, near to Wharf Green and opposite McDonald’s.
