Swindon Travel Choices launches free smartcard scheme

By Anita Jaynes on 6 January, 2014

Swindon Travel Choices are urging car commuters in the town to get out of the car and get on the bus this new year.

STC is a local organisation that promotes alternative ways of travelling in and around Swindon and is working in partnership with Thamesdown Transport and Stagecoach to provide free smartcards throughout January and February. The smartcards come loaded with six or seven days of free travel.

Anyone who currently drives to work is open to apply and ‘sign up’ sessions are being held at libraries around the town in the next few weeks.  There will also be a travel planning adviser at each session to assist with the application process.

The key dates for signup are:

  • Central Library Saturday Jan 11, 10am to 1pm
  • Central Library Friday 17 Jan 2014 from 5pm to 7pm
  • North Swindon Library Saturday 25th Jan from 10am to 1pm
  • Central Library Saturday 1st Feb 2014 from 10am to 1pm
  • West Swindon Library Saturday 8 Feb from 10am to 1pm
  • North Swindon Library Saturday 15th Feb from 10am to 1pm
