Swindon Mindful Employer carers and dementia conference deemed a success

By Anita Jaynes on October 22, 2015

Carers and dementia was the latest theme for the Swindon Mindful Employer Network to explore when it met at Arval in October.   Over 75 attendees with expert guest speakers considered the impact of dementia on an aging population and the support for carers in the workplace. 2016 will be another exciting and challenging year for the network as it grows into one of the largest and most recognised business forums in the area. The first meeting of the new year will be a best practice event called Mental health@work and will be supported by The Business Exchange and Excalibur Communications.

Network leader David Latham said: “This network started with 12 members in 2008 and today we regularly have attendance of 75 – 100 business representatives. We strongly believe that mental health and well-being at work is now such a prominent issue for businesses of all sectors and sizes due to the need for mental resilience and wellness in a competitive and constantly changing economic environment. Employers which appreciate  these matters and adopt positive policies towards mental health usually end up with a loyal, motivated and engaged workforce.”
