Swindon-based Torin-Sifan, a leading producer of energy efficient fan technology to the European air movement industry, is delighted to have been among the finalists for the ‘Manufacturing in Action’ award at The Manufacturer MX Awards 2015 (TMMX). The company successfully reached the final of this prestigious national award following its significant investment in Swindon this year with the launch of its new state-of-the-art EC Manufacturing and Technology Centre at Pagoda Park in Swindon.

Formed in 2015 the TMMX Awards is the merger of two of the manufacturing industry’s leading national awards programmes: The Manufacturer of the Year Awards, run by The Manufacturer magazine, and the Manufacturing Excellence (MX) Awards, run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). Dedicated to encouraging and promoting competitive manufacturing in the UK, TMMX celebrates the very best in the industry.

Within the awards ‘Manufacturing in Action’ is a key category which recognises areas such as investment in employees, service excellence, R&D investment, and process efficiency. Entries for this category are nominated by The Manufacturer magazine’s editorial team following site visits and it is not possible to apply for this award.

Torin-Sifan’s nomination came as a result of a site visit by The Manufacturer magazine during the opening of its EC Manufacturing & Technology Centre by Justin Tomlinson MP in February 2015. At the opening the company ably demonstrated how it has heavily invested in its people, products and infrastructure resulting in a positive, productive work environment, world-class products and excellent customer service.

“We are delighted to be a finalist in The Manufacturer MX Awards, a prestigious event for the manufacturing industry. For this award we are in the company of other industry leading businesses and are very proud to be a finalist in this category,” said Paul Kilburn, Managing Director at Torin-Sifan.

“At Torin-Sifan we are committed to investing in UK manufacturing here in Swindon and producing high quality innovative products while lowering carbon emissions. Our manufacturing capabilities in Swindon mean we are able to offer our global customer base cutting-edge air movement technology. It is great to have all of this recognised”

Committed to investment in the local economy and community during a tough economic climate, Torin-Sifan expanded its Swindon based manufacturing capabilities and invested in excess of £2 million in its state-of-the-art ‘EC Manufacturing & Technology Centre’, which opened in February 2015. The new building enabled an expansion programme focused on delivering energy efficient, quiet and controllable air movement solutions for clients all over the world and created a significant number of new jobs in EC product development, applications engineering and manufacturing.

Following five decades of successful manufacturing in Swindon the new facility allows the company to significantly increase its fast growing demand for EC products whilst continuing with the manufacture of its traditional product ranges at its existing Greenbridge HQ.

With 50 years as a leading producer of the latest fan technology, Torin-Sifan continues to set the standard in motor, fan and blower products.
