Swindon Chamber of Commerce host their first Corporate Insight Dinner of 2014 this month at The Pear Tree, Purton on Wednesday February 25.
The guest speaker is Paul Coles, South West Regional Partnerships Director for BT. Paul will look at the subject of superfast broadband – how to get it right!
Broadband is key to the success of Swindon and the M4 corridor in order for the region to attract inward investment. Without it, commercial expansion and the economic viability of the area cannot be sustained. Six communities in Wiltshire were named as the latest to benefit from a multi-million pound superfast broadband partnership between Wiltshire Council, South Gloucestershire Council and BT. The project aims to lay nearly 1,500 kilometres of fibre cabling and install more than 300 new street cabinets.
All these partnerships build on existing commercial programmes in the region, and aim to ensure that everyone in the locations covered will be able to have speeds of more than 2Mbps. BT’s fibre network now passes more than 17m premises with more than 2m homes and businesses using the services.
Paul will explain how important broadband is for Swindon in order for the region to compete for growth.
