Swindon Borough Council has been announced as a runner-up for a regional award.
The local authority was included in the shortlist for the Best Programme of Business Support in the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Local Government Awards.
The shortlisting is in recognition of the Council’s work with, and support for, the local small business community.
The inaugural Local Government Awards drew nominations from across the country, including Wiltshire and Somerset Councils, celebrating those that had made the biggest impact on local SMEs during the Covid crisis and beyond.
At a virtual online final, Swindon Borough Council was named on the South West regional shortlist in a category eventually won by Cornwall Council.
FSB Development Manager for Somerset and Wiltshire, Ruth Lambert, said, “The standard and range of entries was so strong in this region that to make the shortlist bestows great credit on Swindon Borough Council and I am pleased to see their efforts have been recognised.
“We now look forward to continuing to work with them – and all our other local councils – to ensure we have a vibrant and strong local SME community.”
