Swindon and Wiltshire’s Most Inspiring Women 2024 | Janet Shreeve

By Nick Batten on 1 March, 2024

To mark International Women’s Day 2024, which takes place every year on 8th March, we’re celebrating some of Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women.

Through our website and social media channels, we asked our readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 20. The list will be printed in our spring magazine and from Friday 1st March, every weekday throughout the month we are profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.

Today we put the spotlight on Janet Shreeve

Janet started Shreeve Care Services in September 2022 aged 65 after finding that the choices open to many women her age were very limited.

She has a degree in Italian and having been a teacher for a number of years, decided to have a career change following a divorce.

Janet went on to set up live-in care for three organisations and finally decided to establish her consultancy because she felt there was a lack of support and information available to people looking for care for their loved ones.

Shreeve Care Services also provides business development, working with supported living providers, domiciliary care and live-in care providers.

In November 2023 Janet started the podcast ‘You Care, I Care’ which allows guests to relate their experience of either working in care or receiving or delivering different types of care. It has now had over 200 downloads.

One of Janet’s nominators said, “Janet has pushed the care sector forward in greater ways than I can imagine. She goes above and beyond to make sure people get the most help when they are at their most vulnerable. She is an absolute inspiration and thoroughly deserves to [be] recognised as one of Swindon and Wiltshire’s inspiring women.”

Janet added, “I started working in live-in care in Kent and having never thought it would be my career, I found myself addicted to working in the sector. I feel very privileged to do the work I do with the people I do and look forward to continuing to develop Shreeve Care Services.”
