To mark International Women’s Day 2024, which takes place every year on 8th March, we’re celebrating some of Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women.
Through our website and social media channels, we asked our readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 20. The list will be printed in our spring magazine and from Friday 1st March, every weekday throughout the month we are profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.
Today we put the spotlight on Vicky Lawrence…
Vicky is a Social Media Motivational Influencer and Fitness Instructor who has run Wootton Bassett School of Dance with her partner and mother for over 20 years.
She was nominated for being a true inspiration to the next generation of dancers, working tirelessly to provide the highest level dance, acro, ballet, modern and tap lessons to all ages of children.
Vicky is all about pushing boundaries and taking her students on incredible journeys such as completing the Dance World Cup in which they faced off against 7,000 competitors from 52 countries.
She said, “Being a fitness instructor and dance teacher is honestly so rewarding in so many ways. It’s not about “who can lift the heaviest” or “who’s got the most medals” it’s about showing up and giving it your absolute all. Everyone’s success comes at different stages, it’s what you do to get there that’s inspiring!”
One of her nominators commented, “Vicky has been a unsung hero of her dance school for over 20 years. She is a true inspiration to our younger generation of dancers and children – Vicky works tirelessly to provide the highest level dance, acro, ballet, modern and tap lessons to all ages of children.”
Vicky added, “Being nominated as one of Wiltshire’s most inspiring women has been a humbling experience. International Women’s Day is a reminder of the incredible strength and unity we women possess. Every day is an opportunity to cheer on the women around you. Let’s create a world where building each other up is what we do, because it is just powerful and just beautiful.
