Swindon and Wiltshire’s Most Inspiring Women 2024 | Sarah Dena

By Nick Batten on 15 March, 2024

To mark International Women’s Day 2024, which takes place every year on 8th March, we’re celebrating some of Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women.

Through our website and social media channels, we asked our readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 20. The list will be printed in our spring magazine and from Friday 1st March, every weekday throughout the month we are profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.

Today we put the spotlight on Sarah Dena…

Sarah was nominated for her ‘exceptional qualities and contributions to both the community and workplaces’, particularly as an advocate for Swindon business growth service, The Future Smiths.

She is a learning and development professional who is committed to growth – for herself, the people she works with, and the organisations she serves.

Her journey in HR & L&D has been about spotting and enabling potential, sparking new ideas, and creating inclusive spaces for those around her to be their best selves.

Sarah’s globetrotting days with IBM gave her a taste for tackling challenges on a worldwide stage, managing training programs that stretched across continents. This experience sharpened her ability to think big and deliver results no matter the setting and is the reason for her commercial and entrepreneurial mindset.

As the Director of Learning at New Wave Learning alongside a portfolio career of Associate work Sarah is inspiring others to see what is possible for the future of work and life, beyond corporate roles and traditional perception of successful careers.

Sarah said, “Being nominated for TBE Most Inspiring Women came as a complete shock and I’ve been humbled by learning more about the value I bring and the impact I have by me “just being me.”

“This is why I’m so passionate about the work I do in Learning & Development. Women rarely see themselves the way others do and they often carry limiting beliefs about their capabilities or potential as a result. I want to break this cycle for my daughters and am inspired to do even more to create inclusive workplaces and cultures where everyone feels safe to “just be them.”

One of her nominators commented, “Sarah deserves a place in Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women list because of her exceptional qualities and contributions to both the community and workplaces. She consistently goes above and beyond in helping others, demonstrating a commitment to excellence that sets her apart.

“With a special knack for making everyone around her feel comfortable, Sarah fosters an inclusive and supportive environment wherever she goes.”
