Swindon and Wiltshire’s Most Inspiring Women 2024 | Becca Sadler

By Nick Batten on 8 March, 2024

To mark International Women’s Day 2024, which takes place every year on 8th March, we’re celebrating some of Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women.

Through our website and social media channels, we asked our readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 20. The list will be printed in our spring magazine and from Friday 1st March, every weekday throughout the month we are profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.

Today we put the spotlight on Becca Sadler…

Becca is an SVTA (Sexual Violence Therapeutic Advisor) for FearFree in the Wiltshire and Swindon Sexual Violence team. Previously, she worked in crisis situations with the police, and after moving to Wiltshire she decided to join FearFree.

Becca was inspired to do this role after experiencing her own sexual violence and wanting to support others. The job gives her the opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives and give the support which she herself did not receive. Through her work, she helps clients by offering stabilisation, safety, advocacy, and psychoeducational support.

In her spare time, Becca plays rugby for a local women’s team, which she has done since the birth of her son in 2021.

She said, “I am still learning that I did not choose the sexual violence I was subject to and that my choice was taken away. Sexual Violence or Abuse is always the choice or the perpetrator NEVER the victim.”

One of her nominations commented, “Becca works so hard with what she does as an SVTA for FearFree, which is a hard job in of itself, yet she does it with such passion, and never fails to maintain such a kind and caring nature. She always makes people feel extra comfortable and therefore is one of the most inspiring women to me!”
