To mark International Women’s Day 2024, which takes place every year on 8th March, we’re celebrating some of Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women.
Through our website and social media channels, we asked our readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 20. The list will be printed in our spring magazine and from Friday 1st March, every weekday throughout the month we are profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.
Today we put the spotlight on Angela Roberts…
Angela is the driving force behind Cotswold Networking, a business networking group, just over two years old, currently spanning four picturesque locations in the Cotswolds. Her professional journey, from IT professional to fashion entrepreneur to marketing executive, has deeply influenced her vision of creating and nurturing meaningful connections among local businesses.
After giving up her IT career when her two daughters were born, Angela ventured into entrepreneurship by establishing a thriving ladies’ fashion accessory, party plan business, which she successfully ran for a decade. It was during this time that she uncovered the remarkable opportunities presented by the world of business networking. Fast forward nearly a decade, and her desire to support small businesses, especially after the challenges of lockdown, led her to create Cotswold Networking.
Cotswold Networking meetups are relaxed, friendly, vibrant hubs where local businesses converge, in the evenings, for face-to-face networking and social events.
With over 150 members and currently with monthly in-person meetups in Malmesbury, Cirencester, Cheltenham, and Bath, each gathering is held in a venue that enhances the overall atmosphere of the experience.
One of her nominations said, “Angela has worked tirelessly to build up Cotswold Networking since launching in Malmesbury in February 2022. She has built up a fun and hugely popular community of over 120 business and professional people. Her hard work has led to a great many new business opportunities being generated for the members and a huge amount of collaboration within the groups. She has done all this whilst also working full time!”
