Swindon accountants have stepped up to a fundraising challenge and will be striding out to support a town youth charity.
Staff at Banks BHG, which is raising money for its charity of the year Inner Flame, will complete an eight-mile circular route at Barbary Castle Iron Age hill fort near Wroughton on June 20.
Organiser Ben Haines, Banks BHG’s accounts and audit manager, said around 13 of the team were planning to take part, and the walk would be spread over a morning – with a lunchtime pub stop.
“This is the third year we’ve done a sponsored walk for our adopted charity,” he said. “Last year it was at Savernake Forest, and the year before at the Devil’s Punchbowl. We get more colleagues joining in each year, and they’ve not been put off despite the fact that last year it rained!”
The walk is one of many events planned for the year to support Inner Flame, which helps young people fulfil their potential and also delivers The Prince’s Trust Team Programme in Swindon. There’s already been a quiz, with another quiz planned, as well as a golf day and bake-off.
