Still time for Techies

By Anita Jaynes on 19 June, 2020

The Techies Awards Swindon & Wiltshire are remaining open for entries until Tuesday 1st September 2020.

Now in its third year, The Techies is a Business Exchange initiative to celebrate the innovation and entrepreneurship of our local tech community. The award ceremony was planned for 21st May, but has been put on hold due to the pandemic.

Anita Jaynes, Director of The Business Exchange and organiser of the Techies, said, “As with many events Covid has played havoc with our Techies Award plans for 2020. In April we took the decision to extend the awards until 8th May, playing by ear how things would pan out with lockdown. As it looks more likely that larger events won’t be possible until the end of the year, we’ve decided to keep the competition open to give businesses longer to enter. Many firms who wanted to enter may have been preoccupied a few months ago, working fast to ensure business continuity and survive through lockdown. This gives them the opportunity to get their entries in and be in with a chance of winning.

“I want to say a big thank you to everyone who’s entered so far. We’ve had some amazing entries and the competition is strong, showcasing the incredible talent we have in our area.

“By the time we do all get together for the award ceremony, we’ll definitely be in need of one big party.”

The Techies Awards 2020 are set to be hosted at a brand-new venue for Swindon, the Pattern Church. Steeped in history the building was formally GWR’s Pattern Store. Ideally placed close to Swindon train station and with plenty of parking nearby, the Pattern Church is Swindon’s most exciting event space. It has a purpose-built auditorium to host awards night. The new event venue gives the Techies awards night the opportunity to almost double in size, allowing for up to 200 guests.

Tickets for awards night cost £45 and include a drink, bowl food, the award ceremony and entertainment. When tickets can go on sale we will announce a special earlybird discount.

Get a flavour for the Techies by watching last year’s highlights video online. It’s not another boring chicken dinner affair! The dress code is smart casual. Keep an eye on the Techies website for further awards night announcements.
