The corporate event organiser, Great British Expos, has extended nominations for the 2019 South West Business and Community Awards to 15 December.
The event – which takes place on 25 January 2019 at The DoubleTree by Hilton, Swindon – aims to celebrate and reward the “most ambitious, inspirational and exciting businesses, charities and individuals from across the South West Region.” It is free to nominate and organisers say it can “make a difference” to the nominee.
It is understood that the deadline has been extended due to a “request from nominees.”
The awards now have over 300 nominations and the shortlisted nominees will be announced on 17 December.
The categories are:
- Business of the Year
- SME of the Year
- New Start-Up of the Year
- Apprentice of the Year
- Contribution to the Community Award
- Lifetimeof Achievement of the Year
- Charity of the Year
- Leisure & Tourism of The Year
- Networker of the Year
- Entrepreneur of the Year
- Female Entrepreneur of the Year
- Male Entrepreneur of the Year
- Employer of the Year
Alec Jones-Hall, director of Great British Expos, said: “Due to the huge amount of requests we have received from potential nominees we have decided to extend the nomination deadline to 15 December. Already I am overwhelmed by the calibre and amount of nominations that we have received.
“The judges are certainly going to have a challenge deciding who this year’s winners are from the 300 plus highly credible nominations. We are not just looking for winners and achievers but also contributors who make a massive impact in the South West region. I would strongly encourage anyone thinking of nominating themselves as winning an award can make a massive positive impact.”
Judging the nominations will be an independent panel made up of some of the UK’s biggest business leaders, entrepreneurs, charity ambassadors and regional influencers.
The shortlisted nominees will be announced at the end of December and the winners will be announced at the award ceremony the DoubleTree by Hilton, Swindon in January.
All profits from the awards are donated to the select charities – last year they raised and donated over £11,000.
