Swindon-based social media agency, (short for Social Media Support), has moved offices and is celebrating one year since opening its doors in Swindon Old Town.

The business – founded by Alex Pollock – started off as a team of two but now has a headcount, including freelancers, which exceeds 15. Consequently, it has relocated 500 yards from its original sub-let to become a resident member of Desk Cowork.

Alex Pollock, founder and director of, said, “Our business model differs from the norm; highly-skilled and experienced marketers are expensive but necessary to deliver the objectives of our clients. Whilst we don’t have the capacity to create a plethora of full-time jobs, we still want to utilise the services of local freelance support.”

He continued, “We looked at plenty of offices locally, but Desk was the only destination which met our needs. It gives us enough space to carry out our work regardless of how many of us there are in at any one time. It’s also an aesthetically pleasing workspace for us and our clients; which is important when you can be spending 40-50 hours each week at the office.”

SocMedSup helps brands tell their stories online, by creating “engaging content entirely from scratch.” The business has a core base of local clients and claims to have improved the social presence of companies like Wilkes Academy in addition to being “instrumental” in the digital activation of the Switch on to Swindon campaign. The company also operates in the travel and tourism industry overseas, recently winning digital contracts for a boutique hotel in Zanzibar, and a safari operator on mainland Tanzania.

Alex added that although the company is proud to call Swindon its home, it would soon “start branching out even further globally” now that it’s in its second year of being a “fully fledged agency.”
