SMARTech energy helps University Technical College Swindon save over £200,000

Corsham-based SMARTech energy has helped UTC Swindon to make significant savings on its energy bills.

At a time when energy prices are on the rise, the renowned STEM college located in Swindon has worked with SMARTech to implement a long-term energy reduction strategy that will have a substantial impact on bills over the coming years.

The UTC building mainly comprises of staff offices and lecture rooms that are spread over two floors. The building also has engineering workshops that are used for practicing science, technology and engineering.

In addition, the college is equipped with a heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system and renewable energy in the form of solar photovoltaic (PV).

The measures implemented, including energy monitoring, LED lighting, motor optimisation and base load reduction will deliver:

  • 43 per cent Energy Savings
  • £229,000 Guaranteed Savings (over life of contract)
  • 237 Tonnes Carbon Saving

SMARTech energy prides itself on helping organisations to reduce energy consumption whilst simplifying the ‘going green’ process.

The company partnered with UTC Swindon to create the bespoke energy reduction strategy as part of their 10-year plan to reduce costs, cut carbon emissions and save on energy consumption. Savings made through the strategy will pay for the installation and maintenance of the new, low-carbon technology products.
