Sing Space founder tunes up for another season as her Marlborough choir goes nationwide

Pewsey-based singing coach, Rachel Lynes, who launched a sell-out musical theatre choir in Marlborough earlier this year, is celebrating as the choirs go nationwide.

A singing coach to the stars, Rachel brought the West End to Marlborough in January, when she launched a musical theatre choir through her company, The Sing Space.

As the choir prepares for a second season, starting in September, Rachel is celebrating as the number of The Sing Space choirs to open around the UK hits double figures, and is on course to be at around 20 by the end of the year.

Rachel, who spent ten years performing lead roles in London’s West End and is vocal coach to many of our best-known West End stars, will continue to lead the Marlborough choir – the launchpad for all the other choirs – with other branches of The Sing Space choir opening as far afield as Bolton, Bury, Exeter, Lewes, Milton Keynes and York, each run by a local singing coach.

Now Rachel is looking for enthusiastic singers to join her Marlborough choir, which will have its first get-together of the new season on September 21st at 7.30pm, meeting at St Mary’s Church on Marlborough High Street, with plenty of free parking.

The choir will be singing well-known and much-loved songs from musicals, including Les Misérables, Wicked, West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera and Hairspray, whilst also learning singing techniques direct from West End vocal coach Rachel.

Rachel said, “We will be spending most of the session learning the best showtunes in harmony. I’ll also be giving tips to get the most out of singing voices, including breathing, resonance, posture and range.”

The choir will run termly, with all singers invited to perform at Cadogan Hall – a 1,000 seater concert hall in London – to raise funds for a mental health charity. The choir will be singing on stage, side-by-side with some of the West End’s biggest names.

Rachel said she was delighted with the success of the choirs launched through The Sing Space. She added, “Singing is so good for mental health. I love being part of something that can bring so much joy to people. At The Sing Space we coach everyone from Olivier Award-winning West End performers to very nervous beginners.”

The termly fee for the Marlborough choir is £124.50, with part-funded places available for those on Universal Credit. Each session runs for 90 minutes.
